Healthy Schools Status

RMGS achieved National Healthy School Status in December 2006 by meeting national standards on:

  • Personal, social and health education (PSHE)
  • Healthy eating
  • Physical Activity
  • Emotional health and well-being

The National Healthy School Standard was achieved as a result of the work of the Rainham Mark Grammar School Healthy Schools Working party. The group, made up of students, staff, parents, governors and health workers, has over the last few years promoted a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating, physical activity, emotional health and well being and personal, social and health education.

The Healthy Schools Working Party meets regularly and continues to develop strategies to promote healthy lifestyles for all members of the school. The school employs its own catering staff who produce popular healthy, well-balanced meals on the premises. The School Council, the NHS School Nurses, and our School Sport Co-ordinator are all involved in healthy school issues within the school. More information can be found here.
