The Geography Department at R.M.G.S. is a successful, medium-sized department. The subject is taught to all our pupils in Years 7 to 9 as part of the National Curriculum. Currently, classes in Years 7 and 9 get four periods of Geography per fortnight and Year 8 classes three periods. In Year 10 students choose Geography as a G.C.S.E. option. In Year 12 Geography can be chosen as one of the AS and A Level subjects.
The Department is well resourced with textbooks and equipment. In Years 7 to 9, pupils do not have their own textbooks to carry with them, but use a wide range of books and resource materials. Students choosing Geography as a G.C.S.E. or as an 'A' Level have their own copies of the main textbooks. The Department has the use of video machines, interactive whiteboards, a weather station and satellite equipment as well as a large amount of fieldwork equipment for all years.
