  • Operation Hadrian

    Published 17/07/18

In September 2018, Jonathan Temple, a junior doctor at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent, and his father Simon, a retired Major in the Royal Engineers, are walking the length of Hadrian's Wall (84 miles), non-stop, to raise awareness of the vital importance of maintaining adequate levels of physical activity and exercise throughout life and to raise money for the Obesity Action Campaign.

The Obesity Action Campaign is a UK-registered charity, launched out of the House of Lords in 2011 by a group of doctors, researchers and patients from across the UK who believe that by bringing together the voices and experiences of patients, families, clinicians, educators, academics and policy-makers we stand the best chance of reducing levels of adult and childhood obesity and improving the health and quality of life of millions of patients and their families in the UK.

By working together, they seek to raise awareness of the severe health risks associated with adult and childhood obesity, engage with healthcare professionals, schools and the general public to combat social stigma associated with obesity, support research into the management of obesity-induced disease and the development of local, national and international initiatives to reduce levels of adult and childhood obesity.

Only with your support can we hope to succeed. We are incredibly grateful for any donation you feel able to make and, by so doing, your decision to become part of our mission. Tackling and reducing levels of childhood and adult obesity represents perhaps one of the most important challenges facing our society today.

If you want to find out more about our mission, you can follow our training, progress and discover more about the Obesity Action Campaign via our Facebook page ‘Operation Hadrian’, on Twitter @OpHadrian and via our Virgin Giving Page at

  • Kent School Games Indoor Rowing Finals

    Published 02/02/18

Kent School Games Indoor Rowing Finals (Medway Park), Thursday 1st February 2018

It was the first time that RMGS had entered students into the Medway School games rowing competition. After preliminary qualifying rounds the year 9 girls teams; Lois, Zoe, Grace and Lucy and year 11 boys team; Ben, Lucas, Illan and Sam qualified for the Kent Championships.

The best rowers from Kent were under one roof competing for individual accolades as well as team awards.

Start of the year 9 individual race, ready, set, row!

Lois won the year 9 girls individual race rowing 1012m in 4 minutes and was crowned Kent Champion.

Year 9 girls came 1st in the team relay rowing a combined 1078m in 4 minutes, beating the previous score! Beating Mayfield Grammar, Maidstone Grammar, Highworth, Dover and Ursuline Schools!

Despite the technical difficulties in the race, Ben kept his nerve and held off fierce competition to clench the Kent Champion individual title rowing 1773m in under 6 minutes! The year 11 boys finished an agonising 2nd place in the team relay behind a fantastic Oakwood team.

Well done to our very talented athletes, who knows what the futures hold!

We are awaiting official results to confirm overall team places. Now we set our sights on the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships held at Lee Valley on Friday 9th March 2018.

    One very proud PE teacher.

    Miss Ferrari
