I was looking at the old school website and I thought I'd drop the school a line. I know the school likes to keep track of former pupils so I thought I'd let you know where I got to.
I attended the school from 1989 to 1996 in Aylward house. After leaving university I went through a few jobs before landing the role of IT technician for Worksop College. I have to say I suddenly sympathise with my old IT teacher Mr. Read; working for the college mean I have to deal with the problems caused by the staff and pupils which keeps me busy.
Well, I was at RMGS from 1989 to 1996, and I managed to get through the GCSEs and struggle through A Levels so I could make it into Sheffield Hallam University where I managed to get a degree (2:1) in computing (although trying to complete a dissertation in the space of three days is not to be recommended!). After staying in Sheffield for four years, I decided that it wouldn't be too bad a place to live in so I stayed and after a number of months of frantic job hunting finally managed to get the job in Worksop.
I have just been surging the school's website, in particular enjoying the pictures of the new library facilities (how my form room has changed!), but I couldn't help wondering if the books along the back wall were still the same ones that were there when I attended the school...
I just wanted to say "hi" to all my teachers who helped shape my future and any of my friends who happen to read this - glad to see the school is still thriving.
