I attended GTHS from 1966 until 1973 (and share similar memories to those mentioned in Phil Cox's post). After leaving school I joined Kent County Council; quickly followed by the MoD (where I qualified as a Management Accountant); then the Employment Department; and for the last 10 years the Foreign Office - alas home-based. As a result I've moved around the country a bit, settling in Leighton Buzzard in 1988.
I generally only visit the Gillingham area these days to watch football (up the Gills!), where I usually meet up with John Lyons - also a GTHS pupil between 1966 and 1973. However, earlier this year I went to the Chatham Navy Days and afterwards strayed over to Pump Lane to show the family where I used to go to school. Most childhood places re-visited seemed smaller. But not the school...
