Introduction – Miss Selina Jobbins, Careers and Employability AdvisorNew Page
I have been in post for a term here, and what a busy and enjoyable term it’s been. I bring with me ten years of experience working as a fully qualified Careers Advisor for young person’s charity TheMyTrust. Through the Trust I worked in partnership with a range of schools in Medway which included mainstream grammar and special schools. This last term I have been busy making the most of getting to know the school, its students and staff. I have introduced myself to students from years 9-13 through the school events, assemblies and PHSE sessions. I am delighted that students are beginning to take up my offer of 25 minute careers meetings on Wednesday’s and Thursdays. Year’s 9-11 in particular have been bravely making their way over to my office in sixth form block arriving on time for their appointments they have signed up to in PHSE classes or registration at B2. Meanwhile, sixth formers are dropping in with queries or booking themselves onto sessions advertised on my sixth form office door.
As well as the careers meetings, I am involved in a organising the Higher Education Exhibition for year 12’s, and working with parents and Alumni to arrange careers talks for June’s Post 18 events. I am very much looking forward to meeting parents at school events. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org should you want to arrange a careers meeting for your son/daughter or for more information on the above events. Keep an eye out on the Careers section of the school website and follow me on twitter @CareersEmp.
