Peace Day Students' work
Year 10 Graphic Product GCSE group participated in the D&AD White Pencil Open Brief.
D&AD are a professional body that are recognised throughout the world. They set the absolute reference standard for creative excellence. An annual international competition is run that marks designers out as top in their field. D&AD have created an award for students to encourage creativity
The brief was introduced at the V&A in October along with approx. 100 students from other schools and colleges , by a board of professional practicing designers.
‘… To make it impossible for anyone to ignore Peace Day’.
Students could approach this brief in whichever way they wished – media, print or sculpture, the choice was theirs to solve in their teams of five.
Students work was submitted in January and they were invited back in February to do presentations in the lecture hall in front all participants and receive feedback from the board.
Instead of me saying how proud I felt I would like to share with you the professional feedback emailed to me from Rebecca English Assistant Programme Manager at V&A Museum
‘It was felt by all of the panel that the students at Rainham Mark Grammar School tackled the brief head on and produced some brilliant concepts. Considering they were the youngest group that took part in the project they came up with some of the best presented and concise solutions to the brief. ‘
A blog entry about day two for our learning blog on the V&A website, this will include a sample of work by the students selected to present on the day.’
